Over 35 New Jobs Being Added to Local Community
Yakima, WA, July 26, 2021 – Hiring is in full swing, including naming Derrek Smalley as the manager of the new Wilco Farm Store, located in the shopping center at 5801 Summitview Avenue, in Yakima, WA. Smalley lives in the Tri-Cities and has a strong agricultural background. He was born and raised on a commercial cattle operation in Turlock, CA, and was very involved in 4-H and FFA. He maintains a livestock consulting business that helps youth prepare their livestock for the show ring and has a keen understanding of retail after many years of working for brands that supply to Wilco.
“We’re excited to meet our customers and provide the best customer service possible,” said Derrek Smalley, Store Manager of Yakima Wilco. “People can expect quality products, helpful staff, and lots of variety, whether a pet owner, gardener, or farmer, we have something for everyone.”
The new store will open on September 28, 2021, next to Grocery Outlet and Planet Fitness in the newly updated center that was formally a Shopko. Wilco Farm Stores are known for five signature departments:

- True Value Hardware & Benjamin Moore Paint
- Farm, Fencing, & Feed featuring Purina
- Work Wear & Boots

The Yakima Wilco will be the seventh location to open in WA and is Wilco’s 24th location throughout Washington, Oregon, and California.
